Parent and Family Relations

Ask Pio a Question

Welcome

At William Paterson University, we believe that families are essential partners in student success. The Office of Parent and Family Relations is committed to fostering meaningful connections between families and the University to support students throughout their academic journey—from their first day on campus to graduation and beyond.

Our Mission

To empower parents, families, and supporters with the knowledge, tools, and opportunities they need to actively engage in their student’s college experience, promote academic and personal success, and build a lasting connection with the William Paterson community.

Our Goals

We support families by:

  • Enhancing Engagement
Creating inclusive programs and initiatives that encourage active family involvement in campus life and student development.

  • Providing Timely Communication
Sharing relevant, accurate, and up-to-date information through multiple channels, including the Family Portal, newsletters, and virtual events.

  • Offering Supportive Resources
Equipping families with guidance to navigate the college experience, including academic advising, financial aid, wellness services, and career readiness.

  • Building Community
Facilitating opportunities for families to connect with each other and with University staff through events like the Real Talk Series, Family Book Club, and Homecoming and Family Day.

  • Promoting Understanding
Helping families interpret University policies, procedures, and expectations to better support their student’s independence and success.

Whether your student is just beginning their journey or preparing to graduate, we are here to support you every step of the way.
