The Office of Parent and Family Relations is committed to fostering meaningful connections between families and the University to support students throughout their academic journey—from their first day on campus to graduation and beyond.
To empower parents, families, and supporters with the knowledge, tools, and opportunities they need to actively engage in their student’s college experience, promote academic and personal success, and build a lasting connection with the William Paterson community.

Enhancing EngagementCreating inclusive programs and initiatives that encourage active family involvement in campus life and student development.
Providing Timely CommunicationSharing relevant, accurate, and up-to-date information through multiple channels, including the Family Portal, newsletters, and virtual events.
Offering Supportive ResourcesEquipping families with guidance to navigate the college experience, including academic advising, financial aid, wellness services, and career readiness.
Building CommunityFacilitating opportunities for families to connect with each other and with University staff through events like the Real Talk Series, Family Book Club, and Homecoming and Family Day.
Promoting UnderstandingHelping families interpret University policies, procedures, and expectations to better support their student’s independence and success.
