Apply For Housing

Watch this step-by-step video guide for Applying for Housing.
Accessing & Submitting the
Housing Application

University housing is available for all students who are enrolled full-time in a degree program on the Main Campus. WP Online students are not eligible to participate in on-campus housing.

Students must complete the housing application through the Residence Life Housing Portal on WPConnect, under the Campus Life portion of the Students menu.

This ITWiki will show you how to access the Residence Life Housing Portal through WPConnect.

A non-refundable deposit is required for application acceptance and is submitted as a part of the application process. Credit card and e-check payments are accepted through the application as well.

If you have any questions regarding the payment of your Housing Application Deposit, please contact the Office of Student Accounts.

Housing Assignments and Student Preferences

Residence Life has a variety of housing options to enhance academic success, personal growth, and to provide an environment conducive to this learning.

First Year Students are assigned to New Student Housing areas and are provided specific enrichment and support opportunities to foster connection and engagement with the William Paterson community.

First year students accepted into William Paterson's Honors College Program who submit their housing application, housing deposit and housing preferences by June 1st are considered as first preference for assignment in our High Mountain East residence hall.

Transfer and Continuing Students may choose to live in traditional suite style housing or apartment style housing.  The majority of students are housed in double occupancy spaces with roommates.  Upper-class students are also eligible for Elective Single Occupancy spaces that are available in some of the upper-class residence halls.

In addition, we encourage students to learn more about our Special Interest Communities such as 9-month Housing, Gender Inclusive Housing and more!

Students may submit housing preference information through the Residence Life Housing Portal on WPConnect.  Residence Life will work to assign students based on the preferences submitted, but please note that preferences cannot be guaranteed.

Housing Accommodations

The Office of Residence Life, in close partnership with the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC), is here to support students and their accommodation needs while living on campus. Students who are seeking accommodation or are looking to present a need for an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) are asked to work directly with the ARC staff regarding specific accommodation needs. Please visit the ARC website and click on requesting and receiving accommodations to begin the process.

Once approved, Residence Life will work with students regarding their housing assignment.  Please note the accommodation spaces are not available in all residence halls.
