Supplier Diversity

In conjunction with the University’s overall commitment to diversity and inclusion, the William Paterson University Purchasing Office is committed to contracting with qualified suppliers from all parts of the business community to satisfy the University’s requirements for goods and services.  Participation of Small Business Enterprises (SBEs), Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), Women Business Enterprises (WBEs), and Veteran Business Enterprises (VBEs) in the procurement process is a key focus in our sourcing strategy.

The Purchasing Process

Procurement activities and contracting at William Paterson University are guided by the State College Contracts Law, N.J.S.A. 18A:64-52 et seq.  Public advertised bids are published in the Star-Ledger newspaper and posted to the Purchasing Office website.  Most procurements below the advertised bid threshold require competition with quotes obtained by the responsible department or by the William Paterson University Purchasing Office.

Supplier Requirements

Suppliers to William Paterson University must meet State of New Jersey documentation requirements.  See the Vendor Documentation Requirements page of this website for details.

Small, Minority, Woman, Veteran Business Enterprise (SMWVBE) Declaration

During the vendor on-boarding process the William Paterson University Purchasing Department will note the vendor’s SMWV business enterprise category and post this information to the vendor record.  Departments may use this information when making sourcing decisions.
