Community Events

The Community Policing Division participates in and sponsors events throughout the year to help build stronger bonds with the William Paterson University Community. These Community Policing Events connect William Paterson University Police Officers and the University community to foster trust, collaboration, and mutual respect. These events provide a welcoming space for open dialogue, fun activities, and shared learning, helping bridge the gap between law enforcement and our community. Whether it's a Mental Wellness Walk, a self-defense class, or an informative conversation, each gathering is a step toward creating a more connected and resilient community. The ultimate campus celebration is here! Our WPU police officers join forces with the Pioneer Bear mascot for Communiversity Day - where community spirit meets campus pride. From pre-game tailgating to cheering on the Pioneers at Wightman Stadium, our officers are right there with students, alumni, and families celebrating what makes our university special. This is community policing at its most fun!

Special visit from the Passaic County Sheriff's Department as they stop by to check in with our Sergeant Walker and community policing officers! This is inter-agency collaboration at its finest - sharing best practices, strengthening relationships, and ensuring seamless cooperation across all levels of law enforcement. When departments work together, the entire community benefits from enhanced safety and service.
