Parent and Family Day provides parents and family members an opportunity to come back to the William Paterson campus to spend time with their student, celebrate the WP experience and enjoy a day full of fun activities, performances, games and meeting other Pioneer families.

Donations to the Pioneer Pantry are welcome and can be dropped off during check-in.

Make sure to check back to stay up to date with everything happening for Parent and Family Day on Saturday, February 3, 2024!

Schedule of Events

9:00am

Parent and Family Check-In | Speert Hall University Commons Entrance Lobby

Receive a complimentary long sleeve t-shirt and a meal voucher for breakfast.  First 50 families that check in will receive a complimentary ticket to either the women’s or men’s basketball game of their choice.

Breakfast  | University Commons Wayne Dining Hall

Enjoy a complimentary nutritious breakfast with various selections to choose from.  A meal voucher is required and will be provided to families upon check-in.  Students who currently have a meal plan can use a swipe to dine with their family. 

Pioneer Scavenger Hunt  | University Commons Ballrooms Lower Lobby

Are you competitive and have what it takes to complete all the tasks of the hunt?  Dress for the weather as some locations may be outdoors. An award will be given to the family that completes the hunt the fastest and will be announced during the Student Showcase Performances.

Civic Engagement Activity  | University Commons 168 A & B

Care packaging for homeless veterans to support the efforts of Operation Chillout, which is a charity organization that works to get displaced veterans off the streets and provide backpacks filled with life-saving supplies. Enjoy the wonderful talent of our student Pioneers, there will be singing, dancing and a jazz band.

Pioneer Extravaganza | University Commons Ballroom A

Make sure to stop by and enjoy the caricaturists, create your own photo name art, take home a photo snow globe and more.  Additionally, you will be able to Stuff-a-Plush and Give-a-Plush as part of William Paterson’s civic engagement efforts.

Family Bingo | University Commons Multi-Purpose Room

Who doesn’t love a game of Bingo?!  First game will be called at 1:15pm.  Players can join at any time.  Winners will receive a prize.

Women’s Basketball vs The College of New Jersey | Sports and Recreation Center - Lot 6

Join the Pioneers as they take on The College of New Jersey.

Cost is $5 per adult ticket and $2 for children. Complimentary tickets will be available during check-in at Speert Hall for the first 50 families.

1:30pm

University Gallery Tour and Sneak Preview | Ben Shahn Center for Visual Arts

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this activity has been cancelled.  We invite you to enjoy all the other activities taking place during this time.

Exhibition tours at 1:30pm and 2:15pm in the South Gallery. 

Warm up with some hot cocoa and contemporary art from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.! Join us for an in-person tour of Spring 2024 exhibitions, wander the galleries at your own pace, or unwind with watercolor pens and mandalas while enjoying snacks. Activities for all ages and all levels of art appreciation.

Escorts will be available at the Student Center, Information Desk at 1:15pm and 2:00pm.
