It is expected that all courses and field experiences in the professional preparation program will be completed at the University, with the exception of waivers granted by the early childhood faculty on a case by case basis or courses accepted through established institutional articulation agreements. Candidates are required to take and pass the Praxis Subject Assessment (formerly known as the Praxis II) examination in Early Childhood Content before clinical practice and completing the program. View Requirements and Course Descriptions: Early Childhood Education BA Steps to matriculation in the Undergraduate P-3 Early Childhood Major Enroll as an early childhood education major and as an appropriate liberal arts or sciences major as indicated by the state. Complete required bilingual, multicultural, and child development courses with at least a C grade. Pass the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators exams (#5751) (X2139). Successfully complete the required interview process. Obtain a NJ Substitute Teaching License. Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher with 60 credits completed. Complete required math courses before Clinical Practice I. Complete two history courses, one of them American history, before Clinical Practice I. The Praxis Subject Assessment (formerly known as the Praxis II) examination in Early Childhood Content Knowledge must be taken before Clinical Practice I and passed before Clinical Practice II. Please Note: No more than one additional course may be taken during clinical practice. Exit Requirements: Complete all course work successfully.
