Formed in 1986, this all-star trio includes the premiere performers guitarist Romero Lubambo, bassist Nilson Matta, and drummer/percussionist Daduka da Fonseca. They have made eight recordings, and their repertoire defines Brazilian jazz. Veterans of annual summer residencies at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center, they frequently appear in the world’s major venues. Their combination of virtuoso jazz-based improvisations and fluid Brazilian groove creates a musical combination that is found nowhere else, and we are excited to welcome them to kick off the 2019-20 Jazz Room season.
