In 2022, President Richard Helldobler convened a series of task forces to study the experiences of women, Asian/Middle Eastern/North African (AMENA), and Black members of the William Paterson University community, building on the earlier 2020 Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Working Group Report that examined the experiences of Latinx students. Each report—HSI, Women’s, AMENA, and Black—assessed the needs, challenges, and opportunities faced by students, faculty, and staff, with the shared goal of strengthening belonging, equity, and success across campus. Collectively, these studies draw on extensive data analysis, campus-wide surveys, and focus group discussions to provide a comprehensive understanding of the lived experiences of these communities and to offer specific, actionable recommendations for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion at William Paterson University.
