ADMISSION, RETENTION, AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS SPECIAL RULES FOR SPRING 2020 SEMESTER As part of the Pass / No Credit policy, probation and dismissal policies at the University level and at the College of Business level will be held in abeyance for this semester. When the College’s probation and dismissal process resumes, a “Pass” grade from Spring 2020 will be assumed to be a grade of C- or better. That is, if a student turns a D or a D+ in a business course into a “Pass” grade, that grade will not be counted as a grade below C- in the context of these academic standards. Admission Students admitted to the University with no college credit attempted may enroll in the Cotsakos College of Business upon entry. Continuing or transfer students who are not admitted upon entry may apply for admission upon the successful completion of twelve credits of college coursework. Students will be admitted to the Cotsakos College of Business only if they meet each of the following standards: a. Overall GPA of 2.0 or greater for all college-level credit attempted,b. GPA of 2.0 or greater for all business core and major area credit hours attempted, and c. No more than two grades below C- for all business courses attempted. Retention Once enrolled in the Cotsakos College of Business, students who are found to be in violation of one or more of the standards listed under "Admission" are placed on Cotsakos College of Business probation for one semester (Fall or Spring). Upon completion of this one probationary semester, students who are still found to be in violation of one or more of the standards are dismissed from the Cotsakos College of Business. Note that dismissal from the Cotsakos College of Business does not necessarily imply dismissal from William Paterson University. For details about the separate probation and dismissal process at the university level, please refer to the policy posted at https://www.wpunj.edu/policies/docs/Academic_Standing_Policy_Approved.pdf. Students who have been dismissed from the Cotsakos College of Business (but have not been dismissed from William Paterson University) are permitted to retake business courses in which they received low grades, but are restricted from taking most other Cotsakos College of Business courses. Once they subsequently demonstrate improvement to the extent that their grades adhere to the aforementioned standards, they may apply for re-admission to the Cotsakos College of Business by contacting the Interim Associate Dean (Dr. Martin Gritsch). Graduation In addition to all other University graduation requirements, students in the Cotsakos College of Business must adhere to all academic standards stated under "Admission."
