Title An Open Conversation on International Trade Instructor Bio Timothy C. Stanceu, Chief Judge, United States Court of International Trade, appointed by President George W. Bush in 2003. Career: Prior to his appointment to the Court, Judge Stanceu was in private practice for 13 years in Washington, D.C. with the law firm Hogan & Hartson, L.L.P. He represented clients in a variety of matters involving customs and international trade law. During the 15 years prior to his law practice, Judge Stanceu's career in the federal government included being Deputy Director of the Office of Trade and Tariff Affairs, U.S. Department of the Treasury, where his responsibilities involved the regulatory and enforcement matters of the U.S. Customs Service. Prior to that position, he served as Special Assistant to the Treasury Department's Assistant Secretary for Enforcement, and in several positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
