The Lampitt Law

William Paterson University also participates in the NJ Statewide Transfer Initiative.

Per the Lampitt Law (www.njtransfer.org) when students transfer into WPU with an A.A. or A.S. from a New Jersey Community College (on or after January 1, 2005) all of WPU's lower level core classes (University Core Curriculum [UCC]) will be waived. William Paterson University will also waive all credits earned at a New Jersey community college for an Associate of Fine Arts (A.F.A).

The Lampitt Law, also called the Comprehensive State-Wide Transfer Agreement, creates a seamless transfer process for students from a New Jersey community college to New Jersey public four-year colleges and universities. The Lampitt Law provides for the full transfer of Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree credits for New Jersey community college graduates who enroll in a comparable major at a New Jersey four-year college or university and who have adhered to additional requirements as outlined on NJ Transfer.

When you are accepted to William Paterson University, this law protects the degree credits you earned at a New Jersey community college. As a community college graduate, you should expect to enter William Paterson University with junior status. There are some exceptions for programs with additional requirements, please inquire for more details.
