New Jersey Youth Symphony, the orchestral and ensemble arm of the Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts, features fourteen auditioned ensembles for students in grades 3 – 12. Its ensembles have appeared in such renowned concert halls as Carnegie Hall, NJPAC and Musikverein in Vienna. The Youth Symphony is the most advanced ensemble and draws highly talented musicians from around the state.

The NJYS recently performed Mahler, Symphony #1, and won first place in the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Festival and Competition in Vienna in July 2104 with their performance of Bernstein’s Candide Overture, Tchaikovsky Symphony #5 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1.
