Tuition WaiversPursuant to NJSA 18A:64-13, the Board of Trustees of William Paterson University may waive the payment of the University's anticipated tuition revenues to accomplish mission-related or policy goals. Employee WaiverThe purpose of the Employee Tuition Waiver Program fulfills the mission of the University by enhancing employee development. Qualifications The following groups are eligible: (a) Members of the four bargaining units representing the Communication Workers of America (CWA). (b) Classified staff who are members of any bargaining unit other than CWA units. (c) These above groups having either permanent, full-time positions or provisional positions of over six months of continuous University service. Conditions (a) Employees do not pay tuition; however, they are charged the required fees. Payment for fee charges must be paid by the due date on the bill for each semester. (b) Employees must take courses on their own time. (c) Tuition waiver approval is valid only for those courses listed on the Tuition Waiver Form (Exhibit 8A). No changes, alterations, or erasures are permitted on the form. If any change is necessary, a new form must be submitted. (d) The maximum amount of tuition waived cannot exceed $1000.00 or the cost of twenty-four credits whichever is greater, per calender year for CWA member. The status of the tuition waiver remains pending until the employee provides the Human Resosurces Office with a copy of the employee's grade(s). No further tuition waivers will be approved until all grades are received in Personnel. (f) Employees who do not satisfactorily complete courses for which the waiver had been granted shall be required to reimburse the University for all waived costs. Until such reimbursement has been made, no further waivers will be available to the employee. (g) An employee who voluntarily terminates employment at WPC prior to the end of the semester losses entitlement to the tuition waiver and is required to repay the University for the cost of the tuition. Procedures for Application (a) Any eligible employee wishing to take a course covered under the Employee Tuition Waiver Program must complete a Tuition Waiver Form obtained from the Human Resources Office or visitww2.emptuition.htm(b) Applications must be signed by the employee's supervisor, and the form must be received in the Human Resources Office by: * August 15th for the Fall Semester* December 15th for the Spring Semester* May 10th for Summer I and Summer II(c) The Human Resources Officer, as the training officer, will review the applications for eligibility. (d) Approved applications will be returned to the employee within five days of receipt to allow the employee to register. Employees are responsible for retaining a copy of the approved application form for their own reference (e) Individual forms are simultaneously received by the Bursar's Office from the Human Resources Office indicating name, social security number, courses approved, supervisor's signature, and signature of Human Resources Officer. (f) The Human Resources Office spot checks during the semester to verify if the employee registered for courses approved on the waiver form.
