Managed Long Term Services and Supports (MLTSS)

What is MLTSS: a Medicaid waiver program that provides access to private duty nursing and other health care and support.

MLTSS for Children:

  • This is the only Medicaid waiver program available to children
  • The child’s medical needs must meet the nursing home level of care
    • To qualify, the child will need to have very significant medical needs
  • Parental income and assets are not considered

For children birth through 20 years old contact the Division of Disabilities Services (DDS) at 1-888-285-3036 (press 2 after prompt and then press 1 after next prompt) to speak with an Information and Referral Specialist.

How to apply for an adult 21 years of age and older: Contact your County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) or your County Welfare Agency (Board of Social Services) to initiate an assessment for MLTSS eligibility.

How to apply if a child or adult currently has Medicaid: Both children and adults who currently have Medicaid should contact their Managed Care Organization to request an assessment for MLTSS eligibility.

Additional facts about MLTSS:

  • MLTSS does not have a waitlist.
  • If you are rejected, you can appeal.
  • Individuals cannot have DDD and MLTSS at the same time.
