INFORMATION FOR
William Paterson University’s Professional Counseling Program offers the School Counseling Certificate to qualified post-master’s students. This program provides master’s level clinicians the necessary course work and supervised internship to be eligible for the New Jersey Department of Education School Counseling Certificate. Students are eligible to apply for the school counseling certificate upon completion of the program.
Post-master’s students, who already have a master’s degree in counseling or related area, that need additional coursework to meet eligibility requirements for state certification as a school counselor are eligible for this program. Depending on master’s transcripts, they can take 3 or more credits in required courses until they meet the state requirements to apply for state certification as a school counselor.
Application is accepted on a rolling basis to begin in Fall or Spring semester.
