Here/Now: A Juried Exhibition of Student Artwork

Co-organized by the Student Art Association and the William Paterson Art Department, this exhibition features student work juried by WP Art Faculty.


 

Press Release

 Here/Now, an annual exhibition co-organized by the Student Art Association that features William Paterson University student artwork, will be on view at the William Paterson University Galleries from April 4 through May 9, 2017. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment. Admission is free. An opening reception for the exhibit will be held on Thursday, April 5, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. An award ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 26, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.

On view in the Court Gallery, this exhibition showcases a variety of media including animation, ceramics, drawing, graphic design, illustration, package design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, web design, and woodworking. The exhibition was juried by James Blasi, Kyle Coniglio, and Julie Nagle, William Paterson University professors of art.

Artists featured in the exhibition are Christopher Aman, Anna Arcuri, Rachel Botbyl, Kelli Buchholz, Leilah Bueno, Andrea Coloma, Kohl Donnelly, Julie Eck, Desiree Feliciano, Michelle Fessak, Corey Futcher, Aurel Hoxha, Miwa Ishikawa, Christine Kim, Avery Mason, Kathleen Nipal, Meesol Noh, Michael Obeso, Cassandra Petricca, Marcos Salazar, Michael Scrivana, Jonté Silver, Justin Sisti, Zoe Smolder, Corinne Sullivan, Laura Taveras, Morgan Taylor, Bleriot Thompson, Kimberley Verost, Joey Vidal, Olha Voytsitska, and Parker Waterhouse.

The cash-prize award recipients include: Desiree Feliciano for Best in Show (A Peak), Kimberly Verost for Second Best in Show (She’s Got It All), and Kohl Donnelly for Third Best in Show (Loading Dock). The following students also received recognition for their artistic excellence: Morgan Taylor (Best in Category – 2D Digital Art), Christine Kim (2nd Place – 2D Digital Art), Avery Mason (Best in Category – Animation), Michael Obeso (Best in Category – Drawing/Illustration), Anna Arcuri (Best in Category – Ceramic/Sculpture/Woodworking; 2nd Place – Drawing/Illustration), Jonté Silver (Best in Category – Graphic Design), Kelli Buchholz (Best in Category – Package Design), Corey Futcher (2nd Place - Photography), Laura Taveras (Best in Category – Printmaking), Christopher Aman (2nd Place – Printmaking), and Rachel Botbyl (Best in Category – Textiles).

Here/Now is one of three exhibitions on view concurrently in the William Paterson University Galleries. On view in the South Gallery is Ink, Press, Repeat: National Juried Printmaking and Book Art Exhibition, juried by Alexander Campos, executive director and curator of the Center for Book Arts in New York. Glen Baldridge: All the Surveyors, on view in the East Gallery, features prints by the grand prize winner of the 2016 Ink, Press, Repeat exhibition.
