Who are we? 

88.7 FM, Brave New Radio, is a team of dedicated and creative, passionate, hard-working William Paterson University students, learning under the guidance of the Radio Station General Manager, Rob Taylor, who has extensive industry experience.  

 As a two time winner (2018 and 2021) of the highly regarded, National Association of Broadcasters, Marconi Award for College Radio Station of the Year, Brave New Radio is a non-commercial, FCC licensed station serving a wide area of Northern Jersey, covering Passaic, Bergen and significant portions of Morris, Essex and Rockland Counties, resulting in a coverage area containing over two million people. You can also listen online, on your phone and via your smart speaker.  Brave New Radio, officially known as WPSC-FM is licensed to the city of Wayne, New Jersey, and began operating on 88.7 FM in December of 1988.   

What we do? 

From hosting live on-air shows, to covering William Paterson University sporting events, interviewing bands and recording live performances, as a Brave New Radio student staff member, you are offered from day one, a real world hands on opportunity to put into practice, the concepts that you learned in the classroom and in your coursework.  

Want to get involved? 

As a William Paterson University student, you can apply for position anytime. As you gain experience, you can become a student manager (aka director) of a radio station department. These departments include

  • Visual Marketing
  • Podcasting   

    Our student directors make departmental management decisions that are critical to the daily operation of Brave New Radio, under the guidance of the General Manager. 

    Where are we? 

    88.7 Brave New Radio broadcasts from Hamilton Hall on Pompton Road, across road via the bridge from main campus.  

    How can I apply? 

    As a currently enrolled student at William Paterson University in any major, and in good standing, you are invited to join the Brave New Radio team. The recruitment process, unlike a club, requires completing an application online or in person. You will be contacted by email to set up an interview.     While student positions at Brave New Radio are unpaid, you can may be eligible to receive college credits as part of an internal internship.
