INFORMATION FOR
The Center for Socially Responsible Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CSREI) at William Paterson University is pleased to highlight the launch of Crowdy, a NJ-based startup focused on increasing visibility and discovery opportunities for small businesses, particularly Hispanic-owned businesses and local entrepreneurs.
Recently featured by BINJE, Crowdy was created in response to a challenge many small business owners face: the high cost of digital visibility. Founder Lilia Rios explained the motivation behind the platform by noting that many small businesses struggle to afford the costs associated with maintaining an online presence and digital promotion.
The platform is launching at a particularly important moment for businesses in the New York–New Jersey region as the area prepares for an expected surge of visitors, fans, and tourists associated with the upcoming FIFA World Cup activities. Crowdy aims to help local businesses strengthen their visibility, connect with surrounding communities, and position themselves to benefit from increased regional traffic and tourism.
Crowdy’s focus on supporting Hispanic-owned and community-based businesses aligns naturally with William Paterson University’s role as a Hispanic-Serving Institution and with CSREI’s broader interest in innovation and entrepreneurship that contributes to people, profit, and planet.
Businesses, particularly restaurants, bars, nightlife venues, entertainment providers, and other local establishments seeking to attract visitors during the World Cup period can create a profile and participate through Crowdy Business portal.
Fans, residents, and visitors can also explore promotions, events, special offers, and local experiences across the region through the Crowdy app.
Crowdy’s launch also coincided with ongoing conversations within CSREI about how the Center might engage with and support early-stage ventures in the future. While CSREI does not currently operate a formal incubator program, the timing created an opportunity for the Center to provide limited informal support to an emerging startup while learning more about the practical needs of founders during the launch process. Entrepreneurs and early-stage startups interested in discussing their ideas or exploring possible collaboration opportunities with CSREI are encouraged to contact us and begin a conversation.
