Afro-Peruvian Singer Eva Ayllón to Perform at William Paterson University on Friday, October 10


The internationally acclaimed Afro-Peruvian singer Eva Ayllón will perform at William Paterson University in Wayne on Friday, October 10 at 8 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus as a part of the University’s fall 2025 WP Presents! series.

Ayllón is celebrating 55 years of spreading the joy of Peruvian music around the world. She will be accompanied by the young, exuberant talent of Daniela Darcourt; together they will transform the stage into a pure musical explosion.

Sometimes dubbed “Peru’s Tina Turner,” Ayllón emerged in the 1970s and immediately established herself as the leading exponent of Afro-Peruvian music. She has produced more than 30 records and has received numerous Latin Grammy nominations, including a nomination in 2022 for Quedate en Casa, and in 2011 for Eva Ayllon Celebra 40 Años Cantandole Al Peru, a compilation of her greatest hits. In 2019, she received the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Recognized as an icons of música criolla (Creole music), Ayllón also ventured into various musical genres and collaborated with a number of prominent artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Soledad Pastorutti, Marc Anthony, Armando Manzanero, Raphael, Diego el Cigala, and José Luis Rodríguez. She has performed throughout the world, from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
