Ink, Press, Repeat, a national juried exhibition of traditional print media and book art by 50 professional artists from across the United States, will be on view at the William Paterson University Galleries from September 8 through December 4, 2025. The galleries are open Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and on Saturday, October 18, 2025 and Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Curlee Raven Holton will give a Juror’s Talk on Tuesday, September 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by an opening reception from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The grand-prize winner will be announced at this event.
On view in the South and East Galleries, this exhibition showcases a variety of print media including etching, intaglio, lithography, monoprint, screen printing, and woodcuts. The exhibition was juried by Curlee Raven Holton, an artist, master printmaker, and founding director of Raven Fine Art Editions.
Holton selected 50 artworks by 50 artists hailing from 17 states. Holton earned his MFA with honors from Kent State University and his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Fine Arts in drawing and printmaking. A printmaker and painter, he is professor emeritus of art at Lafayette College, where he taught printmaking and African American art history for more than 30 years. During his tenure there, he served as founding director of the Experimental Printmaking Institute and in 2012 was named the David M. and Linda Roth Professor of Art. Holton established Raven Fine Arts Editions, a private print and publishing studio in Easton, Pennsylvania, in 2006. In 2012, he became the director of the David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland, a position he held until his retirement in 2023.
His awards include the Anyone Can Fly Lifetime Achievement Foundation Award, 2015; Honorary Doctorate, Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts, 2017; and the Linny Artist of the Year Award, 2018. Holton’s work has been exhibited in more than 50 one-person shows and 100 group shows, and is held in many private and public collections including: the Cleveland Museum of Art; the Allentown Art Museum; the Discovery Museum of Art and Science in Bridgeport, Connecticut; the West Virginia Governor’s Mansion; the Foundation of Culture Rodolfo Morales in Oaxaca, Mexico; Yale University Art Gallery; Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; Cornell University Rare Books Collection; The Library of Congress; Boise Art Museum; Philadelphia Art Museum; U.S. Embassy, Costa Rica; Federal Reserve of Washington, DC; and The National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.
Also on view is the 2025 Faculty Exhibition, featuring works by William Paterson University faculty who teach animation, art history, digital art, painting, photography, and sculpture. The works in the exhibition reveal the faculty’s unique artistic practices as they innovate across diverse media. The exhibition is on view through December 4.
