Current Title: Founder and CEO, Tribaja
Shannon Morales is the founder and CEO of Tribaja, a global tech talent network and community that propels the growth of companies such as Intuit, Microsoft, Comcast, and many more and is built to increase economic mobility for under-supported communities. The company name—a combination of “tribe” and trabaja, the Spanish word for “work,” reflects the business’ shift into a “community” of people with an interest in tech and startup careers, including an active Slack group. Shannon has successfully scaled Tribaja to a network of 20,000. Her most notable accomplishments to date include being named Hispanic Business of the Year in Philadelphia, making the Forbes Next 1000 small businesses list, and expanding to new markets in Boston, Dallas, and Washington, D.C. She is focused on working with the best partners to increase economic mobility for Black and Latinx households through the power of employment and upskilling opportunities. Shannon has volunteered for the NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center where she worked with young female entrepreneurs, an experience that led her to curate the Bossie accelerator program to help teenage girls launch their first businesses.
Proudest Professional Accomplishment: "I am most proud of my ability to build a $1 million company that was started during the pandemic and continues to flourish even when companies are not standing behind their diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments. It is through adversity that Tribaja is able to show its competitive advantage, and what allows me to be continuously challenged as a leader.”
WP Pride: “I was a single parent when I started my journey at William Paterson University. WP was the only university that allowed me to take evening classes full-time and complete my degree requirements. And it is because of WP that I was able to leverage my degree to intern at companies like Movado and Adobe before finding my home in entrepreneurship. I am forever grateful!”
