Current Title: Perinatal Mental Health Specialist, Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey
Throughout her career in maternal and child health, Marialuisa Solis has been dedicated to educating, supporting, and advocating for families during the vulnerable perinatal period. As a perinatal mental health specialist for Family Connects NJ at the Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey, she supports pregnant people and new parents who may be struggling with their mental health, providing education, guidance, and emotional support and connecting families to critical resources and services. During nearly a decade with the organization, she has held numerous roles, all of which have reinforced her belief that every woman must have a safe and dignified birth experience, and every family must be in a position to thrive in a supportive and nourishing environment. Currently pursuing a master’s degree in social work at Rutgers University, she continues to expand her expertise in mental health advocacy, social services, and policy development. Marialuisa is also a dedicated volunteer for local community centers and food pantries and gives back as a volunteer dance instructor to share her love for dance.
Proudest Professional Accomplishment: “Every job I’ve had has helped me grow, learn, and stay committed to ensuring families get the support they need. I’m really proud that my work has helped families during tough times, given them access to important resources, and supported them when they needed it the most.“
WP Pride. “William Paterson University gave me the opportunity to advance my career by recognizing my years of work experience via the adult education program. Not only did the University give me a well-rounded foundation in psychology and health studies, but it also honored my prior learning and work experience and allowed me to build upon my skills and advance in my career. The education, support, and opportunities I received at WP have played a key role in shaping my career in maternal and child health.”
