William Paterson University is proud to announce its two new STEM-designated graduate degree programs: the Master of Science (MS) degree in computer science and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in applied business analytics.

Due to these programs’ STEM designation, international students enrolled in either of them may be eligible for a 24-month F-1 visa extension.

William Paterson University offers competitively priced tuition, on-campus apartment-style housing, and scholarships for high-achieving international students. A medium-sized institution, William Paterson University boasts 15 national accreditations for its academic programs and has been recognized for having one of the most ethnically diverse campus communities in the United States.

MS degree in computer science:

William Paterson University’s master’s program in computer science is designed to equip students for careers in rapidly growing areas of blockchain technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data science. Housed in the University’s College of Science and Health, this program is among a select few in the New York City region to include a curricular focus on blockchain technology, which is revolutionizing various industries, such as finance, healthcare, and supply chain management.

The program also provides a solid foundation for those who wish to pursue advanced computer science or related specialization studies at the doctoral level.

“The high and ever-growing demand for professionals with advanced skills and knowledge in computer science is well known across the globe,” says Venkat Sharma, dean of William Paterson University’s College of Science and Health. “By prioritizing advanced specialization and research, our master’s program in computer science enables students to tackle complex challenges and contribute to emerging trends with higher proficiency.”

The curriculum also includes leadership training, Dean Sharma explains, to prepare students for managerial roles in academia, industry, or research institutions — “ensuring they can navigate evolving technological landscapes and lead impactful initiatives.”

MBA degree in applied business analytics:

William Paterson University’s MBA in applied business analytics aims to prepare graduates for high-demand roles in analytics and data-driven decision-making. The program is housed in the University’s Cotsakos College of Business, which is nationally accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Business Schools (AACBS). Only six percent of business schools in the U.S. earn this prestigious accreditation.

“We created our STEM-designated MBA program with a focus on business analytics due to the increasing importance of data and analytics in business decision-making. As technological advancements and data analytics become central to competitive strategy in various industries, businesses are seeking professionals with advanced analytical skills and business acumen,” says Anthony Bowrin, dean of the Cotsakos College of Business. “Graduates of this program will assuredly benefit from the significantly higher wages associated with STEM jobs.”

William Paterson’s program stands out in the New York City region, Dean Bowrin explains, due its specialized coursework in artificial intelligence – a component many other programs lack – as well as its teachings in Python programming.
