Sean K. Wilson, associate professor of criminal justice at William Paterson University, was awarded the Coramae Richey Mann Leadership Award at the 2022 Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Conference (ACJS).

“I’m humbled and honored to receive this amazing award, the highest honor for the Minorites and Women section of ACJS,” says Wilson.  The award is given for contributions to the emerging body of knowledge about gender issues in criminology and criminal justice and impact on criminal justice on a national level.

“Sean Wilson exemplifies the award’s intention to honor a person with an exceptional record of contribution to criminological and criminal justice race and gender scholarship,” states the nomination letter. “A teacher, scholar, and activist, he integrates ethnic and racial diversity thought and practice in the classroom, in the academy and in the community.”

Wilson holds a PhD in the administration of justice from Texas Southern University. His research interests include race and crime, penology, reentry, and criminal justice policy. He currently works alongside several statewide criminal justice policy organizations in New Jersey examining the collateral consequences of drug policies on communities of color.
