The Impact of Technological art Trends
Liqin Tan: Professor and co-director of the art program at Rutgers University-Camden Tan has served as a core board member of the Digital Art Committee and as a juror for the digital art gallery at SIGGRAPH. He was also one of the activists during the ‘85 art trend of China. Since transferring to the field of digital art, he has pioneered the "Digital-Primitive” concepts, which have won great acclaim and a number of awards from both American and international art scenes. His artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally in both solo and group shows. Recently, his research has focus on “Singularity Art” which explores how such singularity technology would impact on the future art.

Snow Yunxue Fu: Assistant Professor in Photography and Imaging, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU Fu’s artwork has been shown internationally in solo shows, group exhibitions, screenings and festivals including Ars Electronica, Austria; Venice Architecture Biennale, Venice, Italy; Arebyte Gallery, London, UK; Current Museum of Art, New York, Thoma Art House, Santa Fe; Currents Santa Fe New Media Art Festival, New Mexico, etc. Her interviews and reviews have been covered in The New York Times, the Boston Globe, Arebyte on Screen, Sedition, the St. Louis Magazine Art Review, and Guangzhou Today’s Focus in China.

Iterative of Contemporary Art in China
Yifei Gan: Professor and Curator, Art at Howard Community College, Maryland Gan earned his MFA in 1989 from Southwest China Normal University, as well studied as a PhD student at University of Tennessee Knoxville, where he earned his MS in Education. He severed as a board member in 1995-1998 for Arts Council of Howard County Maryland, and a contribute writer since 1998 for numerous art magazines such as Art Today, Art Watch, Art Collection, etc. His major exhibitions and awards include “Solo Show” at the Museum of Fine Arts of Oak Ridge, TN 1991, “Artist in Education Award” in VA 1992, and "PERCORSO-Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition in Spoletto, Italy 2010. He curated "Mind’s Eye Open" Chinese Contemporary Art Invitational, and "The Body and Beyond" Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition International Tour, Oslo City Hall Gallery, Norway 2014, etc.
Inside out and Outside in: Chinese Contemporary Art
Xiaoxia Song, Professor, Critic and Curator, China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) Song is Professor of Contemporary Art History, Theory and Criticism at CAFA in Beijing. She earned her PhD in 20th century Chinese art history from CAFA in 2008, and MA in Chinese classical poetry from Peking University in 1988. Her curatorial projects include Liu Xiaodong:1990-2000 (2000), Zao Xing: Exhibiting Contemporary Art Works in CAFA (2010), both at the CAFA Art Museum, Beijing, and the First & Second CAFA teacher’s work annual exhibition entitled JIE LI (2016,2017) at the National Art Museum of China，Beijing. She is also the author and editor of several books, including Consciousness and Chinese Modernity (Oxford University Press, Hong Kong, 2006), and Thirty Years of the Arts and Humanities at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (Hunan Fine Arts Publishing House, 2008). Her recent publications include CAFA Academic Series (Volume 1-5) (Hebei Publishing House, 2021).

Eastern and Western arts are the spiritual wealth of mankind. We don’t just ask questions, but rather pay close attention to the trends and developments of Eastern and Western contemporary art. This symposium invites several renowned scholars, artists, and professors from the Eastern US, who have traveled between China and the US to take note of and participate in the art worlds of the East and the West, especially the development and future of contemporary art. These lectures and this symposium will introduce the works of contemporary artists from the East who have exhibited in New York‘s museums in recent years, introduce the status quo and development of contemporary Chinese art, discuss the trends and future of modern technology and art, and further help our students and listeners to understand these aspects and think about contemporary art from all directions.
