Virtual Comedy Show, My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish, and I’m in Therapy Starring Steve Solomon, Set for April 7

Steve Solomon

My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish, and I’m in Therapy, one of the longest-running one-man shows in Broadway history, will be presented on Wednesday, April 7 at 8 p.m. as part of

William Paterson University’s WP Presents! Virtual Wednesdays series.

The award-winning show, starring comic Steve Solomon, is inspired by Solomon’s hilarious family and all the people in his life whose sole purpose is to drive him into therapy—and they succeeded. One part lasagna, one part kreplach, and two parts Prozac, the show brings to life a myriad of characters we know, love, and tolerate from our own families. Each character is brought to life on stage by Solomon using his gift for creating voices dialects and wacky sound effects that only add to the hilarity of each story.

A native of Brooklyn, Solomon grew up in the multiethnic neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay. A former teacher and assistant superintendent of schools, he decided to turn his attention to his love of making people laugh. In addition to his first show, My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish and I’m In Therapy!, Solomon has written five sequels to his original hit. He has toured the United States, Canada, and South Africa and received critical acclaim including winning the Connecticut Critics Circle Award, a San Francisco Drama Desk nomination, Broadway.com’s “Best new off-Broadway play,” and Broadway World’s “Audience Favorite Play.”

Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance. For additional information, call the Shea Center for Performing Arts Box Office at 973-720-2371 or visit wp-presents.org.
