The Wolves, the Pulitzer Prize-nominated play by Sarah DeLappe, will be performed at William Paterson University in Wayne from October 22 to 27 in the Hunziker Black Box Theatre on campus.
The Wolves presents a fierce and humorous portrait of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for nine American girls on an indoor soccer team. From the safety of their suburban stretch circle, the team battles and bonds over tough questions, striving to understand themselves and the world in which they live. DeLappe’s play, which received the American Playwriting Foundation’s inaugural Relentless Award in 2015, was a finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
The play will be directed by Elizabeth Stroppel, a William Paterson University associate professor of theatre. Stroppel is also the producer of William Paterson University Theatre and coordinator of the theatre and comedy program. She holds a doctorate from University of Texas at Austin.
The cast includes Ashley Burrows of Howell, Skylar Bursi of Memphis, Tennessee, Samantha Cordero of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, Jennifer Fiore of Milburn, Morgen Fisher of Round Valley, Skye Gugliuzza of Nutley, Star Kent-Finnegan of Verona, Kate Lawlor of Bloomfield, Wendee Marcus of Fair Lawn, and Emilee Rodriguez of Paterson.
The Wolves will be performed October 22, 23, 24, and 25 at 7 p.m., October 26 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and October 27 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 general and $10 for students, senior citizens and William Paterson alumni, faculty and staff.
