More than 100 William Paterson University undergraduate and graduate students are expected to attend the University’s four-day intensive business boot camp from Monday, July 30 to Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the University’s 1600 Valley Road Café. The students will meet and interact with leaders from the metropolitan area’s top industry sectors, including real estate, health care and pharmaceuticals, banking and food service.
Established in 2015, the Crux of Industry Niche (COIN) Boot Camp will feature 17 accomplished professionals, many of whom are alumni, to discuss the inner workings of their industry, their firm, and their own personal career path. This year will also include an emphasis on entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, employees who demonstrate the attributes of an entrepreneur. Students are encouraged to share their COIN experience on social media using #WPCoin2018.
“Students who attend COIN benefit from the opportunity to meet so many talented industry leaders and gain their insights,” says Siamack Shojai, dean of the Cotsakos College of Business. “It is a wonderful way for students to learn about these industries; and likewise, it is a great opportunity for business leaders to meet our students.” Freshmen and incoming transfer students are also invited to attend.
There is no charge for the event and students will have an opportunity to qualify for and receive scholarships. At the event’s conclusion on Thursday afternoon, students are invited to a networking barbecue, where scholarship recipients will be announced.Michael Seeve, incoming chair of William Paterson University’s Board of Trustees and president of Mountain Development Corporation, will deliver the keynote address on Monday morning, July 30. It will be followed by a panel discussion on the topic of commercial real estate moderated by Allen Magrini, retired senior vice president, Land Use and Development at Hartz Mountain Industries; Seeve, and Sal Gentile, executive vice president of operations, Hartz Mountain Industries.
Kevin Lenahan ’90, also a member of the University’s Board of Trustees and senior vice president and chief financial and administrative officer, Atlantic Health Systems, is among the speakers.
Okwu (Joseph) Nnanna ’75, deputy governor for economic policy, the Central Bank of Nigeria, will be participating on Tuesday, July 31, via Skype™, to share the Nigerian perspective of global banking and finance.
Jeffrey Millar ’80, managing director, Global Subsidiary Banking at MUFG (Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group), one of the world’s largest financial institutions, will deliver the closing remarks on Thursday, August 2.Other business leaders scheduled to participate include:
The Cotsakos College of Business offers many experiential learning opportunities to its students including internships, business practicums, professional enrichment workshops, case competitions, and mentoring programs, among others.
