Among the group were ten alumni who were proud to be among the first class of physical education majors. Most of them spent their careers as physical education teachers. “We were a very close group and we helped each other,” says Carol Titus Shoen.” The friends swapped stories about who was a good swimmer, which one needed help learning to dribble a ball in basketball, and happy memories of a class canoe trip down the Delaware River.

Other attendees included Margaret Paroby and Diane (Krill) Gouliamos, who have kept up a 50-year friendship that began when they met at Paterson State. Georgette Lentz Straub and John Straub, also both members of the Class of 1968, dated during their college years and went their separate ways, only to reunite and marry each other forty years after they met.

Several alumni from 1968 also attended the undergraduate ceremony at the Prudential Center on May 18.
