Hill will discuss the current political and social landscape and explore how to address questions of equity, including sexual harassment and assault, gender and racial economic gaps, and leadership disparities.
Hill began her career as a lawyer in Washington after graduating from Yale Law School as one of few black students in a class of 160. She accepted a position with Supreme Court Justice nominee Clarence Thomas at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and subsequently brought sexual harassment charges against Thomas in 1995. Her efforts led to national recognition of sexual harassment issues in the workplace.
Today, Hill continues to push the envelope in pursuit of women’s and civil rights through her expertise on anti-discrimination law and policy in her courses on gender, race, social policy and legal history at Brandeis University. Hill’s many awards include an honorary doctoral degree from Mount Ida College (2013) and the First Amendment Award from Ford Hall Forum. Her story inspired the 2014 documentary Anita: Speaking Truth to Power by Oscar-winning director Freida Mok, as well asConfirmation, a 2016 HBO film adaptation of the proceedings starring Kerry Washington.
Hill’s written works includes her 1997 autobiography, Speaking Truth to Power, and her latest book, Reimagining Equality: Stories of Gender, Race and Finding Home.
