-- Cardiologist Dr. Preston Hupart to present opening remarks about women’s heart health
Five outstanding women will receive the 2014 Women of Vision Award during the Ninth Annual Red Dress Dinner on March 26, 2014 at William Paterson University in Wayne. The final program in the University’s celebration of Women’s History Month, the dinner begins at 5:00 p.m. in the University Commons Ballroom on campus.
Dr. Preston Hupart, DO, FACC, director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Jersey City Medical Center, will give opening remarks about women and heart disease. The annual event is a benefit to support the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, which promotes awareness of heart disease in women.
The Women of Vision Award is designed to recognize women in the University community who are outstanding citizens, positive role models, skillful leaders who inspire those around them, and exemplify commitment to service and education. This year’s honorees are Maureen Conway, Class of 1966, member of the William Paterson University Board of Trustees; Anne Ciliberti, dean of library services; Betty Kollia, associate professor of communication disorders; Karimah Prescott, student, Class of 2014; and a special posthumous award for the late Diane Kalish, associate professor of mathematics. In addition, prizes will be presented to the winners of the Annual Student Essay Contest: Sally Na, first place; Katie McNamara, second place; Gabriela Salvador, third place; and Amanda Jimenez and Rebecca Wance, honorable mention.
Dr. Hupart is a clinical cardiologist who is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. Presently, he is director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Jersey City Medical Center, program director for the Osteopathic Internal Medicine Residency Program at Jersey City Medical Center, and serves as its director of medical education. Formerly the director of cardiology at Chilton Hospital, he also held the position of director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Christ Hospital in Jersey City. He is an active participant in the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline program, which seeks to advance acute cardiac care. Dr. Hupart has been recognized as a top physician by New Jersey Monthly magazine and listed in Castle Connolly's Top Physicians-New York Metro Area.
