INFORMATION FOR
W. Alejandro Sanchez, a senior research fellow at the Council on Hemispheric Affairs, will discuss U.S. foreign policy toward the Western hemisphere, particularly Latin America, during lectures at William Paterson University in Wayne on April 2 and 3.
Sanchez will speak on Wednesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. in the Cheng Library Auditorium and on Thursday, April 3 at 11 a.m. in University Commons 216. Both lectures are free and open to the public. The programs, presented by the University’s Latin American and Latino Studies Program, are part of a series funded by a grant from the Tinker Foundation, which promotes the development of an equitable, sustainable and productive society in Latin America.
Sanchez is a senior research fellow at the Council on Hemispheric Affairs (COHA), where he focuses on geopolitics and military and cyber security issues. Founded in 1975, the Council on Hemispheric Affairs (COHA), an independent research and information organization, was established to promote the common interests of the hemisphere, raise the visibility of regional affairs and increase the importance of the inter-American relationship, as well as encourage the formulation of rational and constructive U.S. policies towards Latin America.
Sanchez regularly appears in different media outlets like New Internationalist, Newsweek, Al Jazeera, BBC, Le Figaro, and the Washington Diplomat, among others. He is a regular contributor for VOXXI and for Blouin News. His analyses have appeared in numerous refereed journals including Small Wars and Insurgencies, Defence Studies, the Journal of Slavic Military Studies, European Security, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism and Cuban Affairs.
