William Paterson University Financial Planning Students Selected for 2011 National Competition

—2010 Overall Award Won by First William Paterson Team

Two teams of William Paterson University students are among nine teams from colleges and universities across the country who have been selected to compete at the 2011 Financial Planning Challenge. At the 2010 competition, a William Paterson student team won the first place overall award.

The annual event, sponsored by the Financial Planning Association, will be held September 14-17 in San Diego, California. William Paterson is the only university to place two teams in the competition.

Student teams were selected to participate based on a written case study submitted in June. On arrival in San Diego, the teams will compete in two areas: an oral presentation of a financial planning case study; and a financial planning quiz bowl. Three winners will be selected to receive scholarship money for their college or university.

Students representing William Paterson’s Cotsakos College of Business are: Mike Walsh of Florham Park, Nick Bowman of Dumont, Claudia Capilla of Cliffside Park, Carson Bidawid of West Chester, Penn., Trisha Stone of Metuchen, and Marcin Golebiowski of Parlin.
