High School Dual Enrollment

Our dual enrollment cohort programs, in which eligible New Jersey high school students take college courses for credit, help students accumulate college credits early and at a substantial cost savings. When the high school teachers teach a three credit WP college course to New Jersey high school students, the cost is $300. In comparison, a three credit course at WP normally costs $1,368. High schools can organize cohorts by selecting from three dual enrollment program models. As an added benefit, students who successfully complete our dual enrollment program receive guaranteed conditional admission to William Paterson University.

SPRING 2024 COHORT APPLICATION NOW AVAILABLE: www.wpunj.edu/hsdualenrollment

Effective Fall 2023, high school dual enrollment students may be eligible for a one-time scholarship of $1000 dollars if they:

  • take 6 or more credits as a WP high school dual enrollment student;
  • achieve a grade of C or higher in their WP dual enrollment courses;
  • graduate high school; and
  • apply and enroll at WP as a freshman.

Admissions Criteria:

  • For cohort programs through the high school, the school district is responsible for identifying eligible students for each course being offered for college credit and ensuring these students are able to manage college-level course work. The GPA requirements are 3.25 and above for high school juniors and 3.0 and above for high school seniors.  High achieving high school sophomores may be eligible, at the school district's discretion.
  • All students taking dual enrollment courses individually, and not part of a cohort program, require a teacher, principal, or school counselor letter of recommendation.  GPA requirements are 3.25 and above for juniors and 3.0 for seniors.  Placement testing may be required for certain courses.  Individual dual enrollment students should contact The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at admissions@wpunj.edu or 973-720-2125.
