For Students

Eligible high school students are welcome to enroll in dual enrollment college level courses through William Paterson University individually either online or in-person, on campus.  High schools can also organize cohorts for dual enrollment classes on-site at their high school through one of our three dual enrollment program models.  High School students should see their high school counselor if they are interested in taking William Paterson University classes at their high school.

High school dual enrollment students may be eligible for a one-time scholarship of $1000 dollars if they:

  • take 6 or more credits as a WP high school dual enrollment student;
  • achieve a grade of C or higher in their WP dual enrollment courses;
  • graduate high school; and
  • apply and enroll at WP as a freshman.

Admissions Criteria:

  • For cohort programs through the high school, the school district is responsible for identifying eligible students for each course being offered for college credit and ensuring these students are able to manage college-level course work. The GPA requirements are 3.25 and above for high school juniors and 3.0 and above for high school seniors.  High achieving high school sophomores may be eligible, at the school district's discretion.
  • All students taking dual enrollment courses individually, and not part of a cohort program, require a teacher, principal, or school counselor letter of recommendation.  GPA requirements are 3.25 and above for juniors and 3.0 for seniors.  Placement testing may be required for certain courses.  Individual dual enrollment students should contact The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at admissions@wpunj.edu or 973-720-2125.

    • Students may authorize release of their academic, financial aid, student account and/or disciplinary records to a third party (i.e., parents, grandparents, etc.) by completing the FERPA form on-line.
