The Department of Mathematics, at William Paterson University (WPU) is an active research and teaching department in the College of Science and Health. The Department is located on the 3rd floor in the East wing of the newly renovated Science Hall.
The Department of Mathematics offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Mathematics; Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics; minor in Mathematics; and minor in Statistics.
There are 14 full-time Faculty members, and several Adjuncts. The undergraduate program has about 300 majors including double majors and about 20 minors. In addition to the standard undergraduate curricula in Mathematics, the department fulfills a large service role in the University by providing general education mathematics & statistics courses for every major in the university. These courses range over many different disciplines, such as business mathematics, probability and statistics, and mathematical biology.
The Department of Mathematics is the recipient of several national, state-wide and local awards, and has hosted several regional conferences. The Department proudly hosts a Mathematics Fair for High School students in November each year.
