Learn more about each of our programs:

  • BS in Athletic Training
The athletic training education program (ATEP) is accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Board of Certification (BOC) exam. Certified athletic trainers (ATs) are trained, skilled health care professionals who are directly responsible for the prevention, evaluation, immediate care, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of injuries.
  • BS in Exercise Science
The exercise science program prepares students to design exercise prescriptions and communicate information related to health, wellness, and nutrition to a variety of populations including athletes, healthy adults, older adults, obese adults and children, cardiac patients, those who are diabetic, arthritic, hypertensive, or pregnant, and those suffering from cancer. Exercise science students are prepared to take numerous national certifications including American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and American College of Exercise (ACE).
  • BS in Physical Education K-12 Certification with Optional Health Teacher Certification
The physical education/teacher certification program provides the scientific background for analyzing and understanding human movement while the performance skill courses equip the prospective teacher with sport and dance skills necessary to be a well-prepared physical education teacher. PE majors are encouraged to complete five specific courses in the Public Health Department so they are eligible to obtain health and physical education certification, grades kindergarten through 12 in New Jersey.
  • BA and Minor in Sport Management
Courses in the sport management program present relevant theory and practice that prepares students to be successful leaders in today’s ever-expanding sport industry. Students will develop business and administrative skills needed by organizations involved with sport activities, products, and services. Sport management majors often complete a minor in our Cotsakos College of Business including accounting, business administration, or professional sales.
  • MS in Exercise & Sport Studies
Our graduate program in exercise and sport studies provides opportunities for advanced study in exercise physiology. Students take courses tailored to their individual interests in fitness and wellness and will complete either an independent research project with the submission of a thesis or a practical internship experience with the submission of a substantial concluding report.
Graduates of our four undergraduate programs are prepared for a variety of careers and/or graduate study in the appropriate field. Students who earn a degree in athletic training and pass the Board of Certification exam work in elementary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, professional sports, sports medicine clinics, and industrial corporations. Exercise science graduates work as health and fitness instructors, strength and conditioning specialists, health and fitness program directors, cardiac rehabilitation specialists, sport nutritionists, and exercise physiologists. Physical education graduates work as health and physical education teachers at elementary, middle, and high school levels while our sport management graduates work in college and professional sports, sport marketing and advertising, event planning, facility management, ticket operations, and sport finance. Students completing our graduate program in exercise physiology work in fitness/exercise settings, clinical settings, or as research scientists. Our master’s degree students are also well prepared for entry into a doctoral program in exercise physiology/exercise science.
