Addressing the Board

Anyone wishing to address the Board of Trustees of William Paterson University at a public Board Meeting may apply to do so by submitting their request in writing. Requests to address the Board should be made by e-mail or in writing to Ms. Loretta Mc Laughlin Vignier, Chief of Staff to the President and Board of Trustees, at MCLAUGHLINVIGNIERL@wpunj.edu by 4:30 p.m. five business days prior to the meeting. Requests to speak will be reviewed by the Board Chair and the President. Generally, speakers are limited to three minutes. If multiple people sign up to speak, the Board Chair may further limit the number of minutes allocated to each speaker to afford everyone the right to be heard. The request shall include the name, department, and phone number of the person wishing to speak; the name of the group represented, if any; and the topic upon which the person wishes to speak. The Chief of Staff will acknowledge each speaker’s request by e-mail. Speakers will be heard at the beginning of the public session portion of the Board of Trustees Meeting immediately after the approval of the minutes.

Written materials for review by Board Members must be submitted in advance of Board Meetings by 4:30 p.m. five business days prior to the Board Meeting to the Chief of Staff (MCLAUGHLINVIGNIERL@wpunj.edu, or brought to the President’s Office in Hobart Manor). Review of materials submitted to the Board is at the discretion of the Chairperson. The Chairperson will determine the correct course of action regarding the materials and the distribution to other Board Members. Generally, items that are considered confidential under law of University policy should not be the subject of commentary.
