Resources for the Future (RFF) RFF is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that conducts independent research -- rooted primarily in economics and other social sciences -- on environmental, energy, and natural resource issues. Although RFF is headquartered in Washington, D.C., its research scope comprises programs in nations around the world. RFF has several paid summer internships for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students. Priority consideration is given to graduate students. The program is open to both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens. However, the latter must be enrolled at a U.S. university and have proper work and residency documentation. Internships are available beginning in June and ending in late August for a 10-week assignment. To meet individual needs, some flexibility in the beginning and ending dates is possible. Students earn a stipend ($375 per week for graduate students; $350 per week for undergraduates). Housing assistance is not provided. Each intern can expect to work with one or more RFF researchers on a variety of ongoing projects or assist in the development of entirely new areas of research and policy analysis. RFF's three research divisions are Energy and Natural Resources (ENR), Quality of the Environment (QE), and Risk, Resource, and Environmental Management (RREM). All three divisions seek highly motivated candidates in the social and natural sciences. For positions in ENR and QE, applicants should be trained in economics and quantitative methods. RREM is particularly interested in candidates with a strong interest in public policy. Candidates for all divisions should have outstanding policy analysis, strong writing skills, and an interest in complex environmental policy problems amenable to interdisciplinary analysis. International Affairs Inter-American Dialogue The Inter-American Dialogue offers full and part-time volunteer internships in the fall, spring and summer semesters for students interested in the dynamics of inter-American relations. Diversity Internship Program for Afro-Descendants and Indigenous Peoples The Inter-American Development Bank is an international financial institution that was created in 1959 to help accelerate the economic and social development of its member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Bank, whose headquarters is in Washington, D.C., is today the principal source of external public financing for many countries of the Latin American and Caribbean Region. The Bank is owned by its 46 member countries. The Bank, as an international organization, is committed to the principle of equal opportunity for all persons based solely on their individual merits. Each year the Inter-American Development Bank hires graduates and undergraduate students for a period of two to three months.
