Financial Planning Academy Scholarship Application

What is Financial Planning Academy?

Financial Planning Academy, developed by Texas Tech University and funded by Charles Schwab Foundation, is a summer program that offers rising high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors' education, and training in the core areas of personal financial management. The week will include working in small teams on a financial planning case study, developing a financial plan, and participating in other competitions for scholarships and prizes. In addition to promoting financial literacy among America's youth, the camp will provide insight into the Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) industry and show students the value of financial planning as a profession.

This multi-university program is hosted by Texas Tech, University of Missouri, Utah Valley University, University of Georgia, and William Paterson University. The combination of these five institutions provides remarkable opportunities to connect with college students, faculty, and career professionals.

Housed in an AACSB accredited Business School, the Financial Planning Program at William Paterson University offers an undergraduate degree, a master's degree and prepares students to sit for the CFP® certification examination. Located within a 2-hour drive of three of the largest Financial Planning Association Chapters in the U.S. (FPA-NJ, FPA-NY, and FPA-Philly), students have access to abundant mentorship, networking, and internship opportunities. Students have consistently placed year after year in national financial planning competitions.

This camp is for high school students interested in pursuing a career in business or financial planning. Participants must be entering their freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior year in high school.

Total Cost with scholarship: $150
