This talk features Iman Boukadoum, an Algerian-American, Muslim social justice attorney. Her career began at the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties at the Department of Homeland Security in Washington D.C. Next she worked at the Center for Justice of the American Civil Liberties Union, addressing the issue of the militarization of policing, resulting in the report War Comes Home published right before the 2014 Ferguson, Missouri, protests. She then joined the law firm of Youman, Madeo and Fasano, dealing with asylum and immigration cases. She is now the Director of Community Partnerships at the Interfaith Center of New York, an organization that supports grassroots, interfaith campaigns on social justice issues, while combating bigotry and misunderstanding.
