Educational Enrollment & Certification Home

The Office of Education Enrollment and Certification supports students wishing to become NJ certified teachers as well as those who are looking to obtain other licenses to work in various public school roles by providing information about necessary steps and requirements and by working directly with the NJ Department of Education to recommend program completers for licensure and confirm successful program completion.

Undergraduate Education Majors

Are you pursuing your bachelor's degree and wish to become a licensed teacher?  At William Paterson University's College of Education,  you may select an education major during the admissions process or afterwards.  Learn more about the College of Education and the steps to begin taking education coursework by clicking here.  

Graduate Education Programs

Do you hold a bachelor's degree and wish to become a certified teacher?  Explore the College of Education's varied initial certification programs which include certificate, master's alternate route and traditional programs.  Areas of licensure include Pre-School through Grade 3, Elementary Education (K-6), ESL, Secondary Education (subject specific for grades K-12) and Career and Technical Education (CTE).

Are you already a certified teacher and want to pursue a master's or doctoral degree or additional licensure?  The College of Education offers a diverse array of programs in the following areas: bilingual education, early childhood education, English as a second language (ESL), higher education, principal (educational leadership and doctorate), reading/literacy, student assistance coordinator, professional counseling (school, mental health, and director of school counseling), school library media, school nursing, special education (teacher of students with disabilities, learning disabilities teacher-consultant (LDT-C), and autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities), STEAM, and supervision.
