Indra Jatra, also known as Yenya, is one of the most vibrant and significant festivals in Nepal, particularly in the Kathmandu Valley. Celebrated primarily by the Newar community, this eight-day festival takes place in September and is dedicated to Indra, the Hindu god of rain and king of heaven, and also honors Bhairab, a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva.

One of the most unique aspects of Indra Jatra is the Kumari Jatra, which involves the procession of the living goddess Kumari. The Kumari, a prepubescent girl considered to be the living embodiment of the goddess Taleju, is carried on a chariot through the streets of Kathmandu, accompanied by thousands of devotees.
