Brave Space LGBTQIA Training

The Brave Space LGBTQIA+ Training provides information and resources related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Participants develop:

  • A deeper awareness of personal ideas, stereotypes, and assumptions related to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) individuals
  • A deeper understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences
  • An increased comfort level in taking action to address concepts and language regarding LGBTQIA+ communities 
  • An increased awareness of services on campus that support LGBTQIA+ and allied individuals
  • A community network comprised of campus staff, faculty, and students that support people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions on campus 

Brave Space LGBTQIA Student Training

  • Brave Space LGBTQIA+ Student Training is an interactive experience that is 2 hours long. The curriculum is designed to introduce foundational concepts, terminology, and resources related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.  The Student experience is open to all students and can be tailored for certain departments and student clubs that request personalized training.   
    • Brave Space LGBTQIA+ Student Training is held in person.
    • Remote training for WP Online Students and Commuter Students will be offered once a semester.
  • LGBT Ally Training: Tips and Application is an interactive experience that is 1 hour long. The curriculum covers applicable strategies to support an individual who seeks support during their coming out process.  Training is held in person.    **Remote engagement is still in development**.
