Applied Business Analytics - MS Mission Statement 

The Cotsakos College of Business builds upon the diversity of the metropolitan region to prepare students for successful careers in business through our undergraduate and graduate programs.  The College's programs incorporate academic excellence, experiential education, and professional enrichment, and are supported by the applied research of its faculty. 

Business Analytics - MS Goals 

  1. Students should understand the value of and use of analytics to gain critical business insights and competitive advantage.   
  2. Students should understand descriptive, predictive & prescriptive analytics: Acquire analytics skills, develop and apply analytics models to business and real world scenarios, especially in the context of big data management. 
  3. Students should learn and develop proficiency in the use of industry relevant technology tools and software, including programming, data mining, DBs and visualization for big data. 

 

Business Analytics - MS Student Learning Outcomes 

  1. Students will be able to identify business scenarios, problems, relevant data and conceptual analytical models. 
  2. Students will know the value of analytics and identify strategies for successful analytical solutions. 
  3. Students will be able to use math and statistics models to build analytics solutions for structured and unstructured data. 
  4. Students will be able to visualize data, build predictive and optimization models. 

 

MBA - Mission Statement

MBA -  Goals  

Our MBA graduates will be able to: 

  1. Think analytically and strategically while integrating practical knowledge to adhere to the business demands of the 21st century. 
  2. Communicate effectively in both writing and oral formats as well as develop advanced persuasive communication skills so they are prepared for a successful career in business. 
  4. Effectively manage the utilization of technology resources so they are prepared for a successful career in business. 
  6. Work in groups and understand leadership characteristics and styles in various settings. 
  7. Recognize and analyze ethical problems, appreciate diversity, and understand sustainability.
  8. Be proficient in integrating the techniques, processes, and procedures of the fundamental business disciplines (i.e. accounting, economics, finance, marketing, management, human resources, operations, and IT). They will be able to apply theory, skills, and knowledge from these disciplines to business practice.

 MBA -  Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Our MBA graduates will be able to recognize and analyze business challenges at the managerial level. 
  2. Our MBA graduates will be able to recommend solutions to business challenges with the use of multiple disciplinary perspectives and strategic analysis. 
  3. Our MBA graduates will be able to conduct oral presentations with the use of advanced concepts in communication. 
  4. Our MBA graduates will be able to develop strategic argument skills to achieve positive outcomes in business. 
  5. Our MBA graduates will be able to understand and manage the application of technological/information technology tools for business in an organizational setting. 
  6. Our MBA graduates will be able to make decisions based on the use of technology tools and data. 
  7. Our MBA graduates will have the ability to work in groups as demonstrated in team assignments. 
  8. Our MBA graduates will have an understanding of leadership characteristics and styles, and their effectiveness in various settings.

Professional Sales - MS Mission Statement  

The Cotsakos College of Business builds upon the diversity of the metropolitan region to prepare students for successful careers in business through our undergraduate and graduate programs. The College's programs incorporate academic excellence, experiential education, and professional enrichment, and are supported by the applied research of its faculty. 

 Professional Sales - MS Goals  

  1. Knowledge - Our MSSL graduates will be able to think analytically and strategically. Sales leaders need to understand long-term nature of corporate strategy and its drivers, linking sales strategy implementation and corporate strategy and building organizational/top management support for solution implementation. They must use their knowledge of fundamental business disciplines to identify suitable goals for enhancing a few of the key identified drivers, design and execute a real-life project that deliver implementable plans, based on sound analysis, to achieve those goals. 
  2. Leadership - Upon completion of this program, our MSSL students will be able to develop a sense of leadership, specifically in the sales domain. 
  3. Communication - Our MSSL students will be able to showcase their critical thinking capabilities using oral and written communication skill. 

 

Professional Sales - MS Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Our MSSL graduates will develop tangible business management experiences (knowledge and competence) in their areas of professional interest through the integration of their MSSL coursework. 
  2. Our MSSL graduates will effectively apply knowledge and skills in areas of knowledge (i.e. including accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, general management, human resource management, music management, professional sales, and strategy), and master them by developing solutions to a selected real-world business problem. 
  3. Our MSSL students will be able to gather business-level data from an array of credible sources and critically interpret them. 
  4. Our MSSL students will be able to draw meaningful inferences, using a variety of conceptual models, and data inference techniques. 
  5.  Our students will be able to demonstrate a profound understanding of corporate strategy, sales talent management and alignment of sales related strategies. 
  6. Our students will be able to showcase essential leadership skills in organizational settings, by their ability to understand an array of processes. 
  7. Upon completion of this program, our MSSL students will be able to communicate orally complex concepts in the business domain in general and the sales domain in particular with an expert audience. They will be able to perform in an array of communication channels, including individual presentations, role plays, or group discussions. 
  8. Upon completion of this program, our MSSL students will be able to write effectively for a business-minded audience, using sound logic, with the reasonable support of credible data, and void of any personal speculation.
