August 19, 2019

To the William Paterson community:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Cannon as Director of Communications in the Office of the President. He will join the University on August 26, 2019. In this role, he will be developing a wide range of presidential communications and will provide support for marketing and public relations projects as time permits. This position, an existing staff line in the Marketing and Public Relations department, is part of a reorganization of communication responsibilities in my office.

Greg is a seasoned communications professional who brings extensive public affairs, development, and editorial experience to this position. He served as chief public affairs officer at Marist College, where he also held previous positions as director of foundation and corporate relations, and writer and editor in the Office of the President. Prior to joining Marist in 2005, he was a reporter at newspapers in New Hampshire, California, and New York. Greg holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Clark University and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.

I hope you will join me in welcoming Greg Cannon to our campus.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Helldobler, PhD
President
