The bilingual/bicultural certification program is designed for individuals who possess a New Jersey standard teaching certificate in a content area or elementary education and who wish to earn the bilingual/bicultural endorsement. It requires 18 credits of study in six courses, and has the option of continuing in the M.Ed. in Bilingual/ESL program.

Exception: Candidates for certification who establish themselves as a speaker of the target language who was primarily educated at the undergraduate or graduate level in that language, as determined by their submitted foreign evaluation transcript(s), will be exempt from taking the oral and written language proficiency tests (OPI & WPT) in their target language.
