UPDATE 11/25/20: Information on NAEYC-Accredited & Head Start Programs Seeking Star Rating 3 & 4
All Programs
The following resources include Grow NJ Kids standard requirements as they are applicable to all programs. Although Head Start and/or NAEYC-Accredited programs follow their own protocol and need to submit documentation accordingly, the required scores for classroom observations, amounts of documentation reviewed and point values are the same for each standard.
Grow NJ Kids Notification of Rating Readiness - The Notification of Rating Readiness should be filled out when a program has successfully completed all requirements for Star Rating 1 & 2, has uploaded all documentation for review on to their USB and/or to NJCCIS File Cabinet, filled out the Readiness Checklist and is ready to be rated by NJCQR for a Star Rating of 3, 4 or 5. This notification can be e-mailed to Andrea Breitwieser, Grow NJ Kids Coordinator, at Andrea.Breitwieser@dhs.nj.gov.
Documentation Review Protocol - The Documentation Review Protocol is a listing of the documentation requirements for each category and Star Rating Level of Grow NJ Kids.
Star Rating Readiness Checklist - The Readiness Checklist lists the quantities of all documentation that will be required for ratings by NJCQR. It should be completely filled out and submitted when a program is preparing their documentation for ratings. Documentation uploaded on to the USB or to NJCCIS File Cabinet should be checked off on the Readiness Checklist. Any documentation that a program would like the NJCQR to review onsite should be checked off as well. The Readiness Checklist should be uploaded to the USB and/or into NJCCIS File Cabinet.
Points & Star Rating Level Requirements - The Points and Star Rating Level Requirements lists what is required in meeting Star Rating 3, 4 & 5 including: Average classroom observation scores, curriculum implementation and range of points. The document lists the amount of points each Grow NJ Kids standard is worth.
Head Start Programs - UPDATE 7/1/19 - This update includes information for Head Start Programs seeking a Star 3 Rating
Many of the Grow NJ Kids standards are aligned to Head Start Program Performance Standards. This is recognized by the NJCQR and is reflected in the documentation requirements for Star Rating Levels 3, 4 & 5. Head Start programs should follow the protocol below. If a Head Start program that is NAEYC-Accredited, follow protocol for NAEYC-Accredited programs below.
Head Start Documentation Review Protocol - (Updated 8/10/20) The Head Start Documentation Review Protocol lists the documentation requirements for each category and Star Rating Level of Grow NJ Kids. The requirements on this form are applicable only to Head Start programs.
Head Start Star Rating Readiness Checklist - (Updated 8/10/20) The Head Start Star Rating Readiness Checklist is aligned with the Documentation Review Requirements for Head Start programs. It lists the quantities of all documentation that will be required for ratings by NJCQR. It should be completely filled out when a program is preparing their documentation for ratings and all supporting Head Start reports should be sent with this form. Documentation uploaded on to the USB or to NJCCIS File Cabinet should be checked off on the Readiness Checklist. Any documentation that a program would like the NJCQR to review onsite should be checked off as well. The Readiness Checklist should be uploaded to the USB and/or to NJCCIS File Cabinet. The requirements on this form are applicable only to Head Start programs.
Many of the Grow NJ Kids standards are aligned with the NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards. Therefore, for those programs that are NAEYC-Accredited, the documentation review protocol considers what evidence has already been reviewed by NAEYC. NAEYC-Accredited Programs should follow the protocol as listed below.
