The Chapin Family Presents “Harry Chapin’s Greatest Stories LIVE” at William Paterspn University on April 25

Two generations of the musical Chapin Family will gather to bring the songs of Harry chapin to life when they perform at William Paterson University in Wayne on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The show, part of the University’s WP Presents! series, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus.

In the long rich history of family groups in American roots music, the Chapin Family has a a special place. Tom Chapin, Steve Chapin, Jen Chapin, and The Chapin Sisters (Abigail Chapin and Lily Chapin) are all powerful musical artists who have active careers and multiple recordings, who just happen to be related, and who love making music together. Harry Chapin (1942 - 1981) was one of music’s most passionate, political, prolific, and inspiring songwriters.

Backed by the Harry Chapin Band, including Big John Wallace and Howard Fields, the Chapin Family will perform Harry Chapin’s classic songs, including “Cat’s in the Cradle,” “Taxi,” “Mr. Tanner,” “Mail Order Annie,” “W.O.L.D.,” and “Circle.”

To honor Harry Chapin’s commitment to fighting hunger, a food drive will be held in connection with the concert. The audience is encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, which will be donated to a local food bank.

Tickets range from $48 to $68. A discount is available for William Paterson faculty, staff, students, and alumni, as well as senior citizens. To purchase tickets, or for additional information, call the Shea Center for Performing Arts Box Office at 973-720-2371 or visit wp-presents.org.
